Korean NCP Rejects OECD Guidelines Complaint Against Daewoo International and KOGAS

The National Contact Point (NCP) of Korea has rejected a complaint filed by EarthRights International on behalf of the Shwe Gas Movement (SGM) and nine Korea-based organizations alleging Daewoo International and the Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) are in breach of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises related to their involvement in a large-scale natural gas development project in military-ruled Burma.

New OECD Guidelines Case against Netherlands-based Makro in Pakistan

Pakistan based Shehri-Citizens for a Better Environment has brought a case before the Dutch National Contact Point, alleging that Makro Habib Pakistan Limited (MAKRO), a joint venture between SHV Holdings, NV, Netherlands and the House of Habib, Pakistan, has violated the OECD Guidelines. It is claimed that MAKRO’s recently opened “Cash & Carry Departmental Store” on the Webb Ground plot in Pakistan has been built in defiance of High Court orders, on illegally claimed ground and to the detriment of the local community and environment.
