Allegations

On 14 April 2026, a group of 22 former workers filed a complaint against brewing company Heineken to the Dutch NCP. The workers were formerly engaged by Bralima, a company connected to Heineken in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in various periods before Heineken’s sale of its Bukavu brewery to Mauritian company Synergy Ventures Holdings Ltd for 1 euro in November 2025. They raise various claims, including illegal dismissals, human rights violations, as well as corruption and taxation issues related to the sale. Many of the claims are connected to the impacts of the ongoing conflict between the Congolese army and various armed groups in the DRC.

OECD Watch has not published the complaint text to protect the identities of the individual workers, who have requested anonymity due to security concerns.
