A practical guide for Indigenous Peoples on using the OECD Guidelines to protect their rights
OECD Watch member Voices and SIRGE Coalition have published a Handbook on the OECD Guidelines complaint system for Indigenous Peoples. OECD Watch supported the drafting of the Handbook.
What is the guide about?
- It explains why the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises matter for Indigenous Peoples, what the complaint mechanisms at National Contact Points can and cannot offer;
- Helps assess whether and in what cases an OECD complaint is a suitable tool for addressing harmful corporate conduct;
- Outlines the complaint process step by step, with practical tips and examples;
- Shows how OECD complaints can support broader advocacy and justice strategies, when combined with other actions and parallel procedures.
Who is this guide for?
This guide is intended for Indigenous Peoples and their frontline communities. It is also useful for civil society organizations that support them.
The digital Handbook and factsheets are also available on Voices and SIRGE Coalition‘s websites.
