Allegations
On 9 April 2025, an anonymous Myanmar civil society organisation filed a complaint against Airbus at the Dutch NCP. The complaint concerns Airbus’s business relationship with a supplier to the Myanmar military of aircrafts that are used to commit indiscriminate airstrikes on civilians.
The complaint states that since the military coup in February 2021, the Myanmar Air Force has been conducting indiscriminate airstrikes on civilian areas. The complainant alleges that Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and companies operating under the oversight of AVIC’s subsidiary AviChina Industry & Technology (AviChina) have been supplying the Myanmar military with military aircrafts. The complainant alleges that Airbus has significant business relationship with AVIC in the form of collaboration and joint partnerships and that Airbus is the biggest international shareholder in AviChina.
The complainant asks that Airbus exercise its leverage in AVIC to sever their links to the Myanmar military and disengage from AVIC if AVIC fails to act.
